Alfred Vidoudez

Very nice cello from Alfred Vidoudez, Genève, 1917

Alfred Vidoudez was a pupil of George Mougenot which can be clearly seen from the varnish. In contrary to some French/Belgium makers Mougenot and Vidoudez used a soft and thicker sort of varnish that develops a lovely delicate craquelé. The archings are superb, the scroll is very nice.

Vidoudez was probably the most famous violin firm in Switzerland.
